This week is the last full week of class, and it has gone by really fast. I find myself looking back over the entire course, as opposed to just this week.

As far as the week goes, we learned about a fellow by the name of randy haykin. A graduate of Harvard business school, haykin took advice from his professors and instead of immediately starting his own company, went to work in the trenches of other companies and in course learning about the business he wanted to go into. He started with the end in mind and wrote out goals and plans, but took his time in achieving them, waiting for perfect moments like a mandatory hiatus to switch companies, and then being asked to move to one of two undesirable locations to strike out on his own with the safety net of a 6 months’ severance.

Because he took the advice of his professors his first two years of business for himself went very well and though he struggled in some ways he learned that he really liked to be at the beginning of something, to be at the start of a great idea.

I very much related to that notion and it brought back memories of helping some of my friends start up their own business some years ago.

As far as the course of the semester as a whole, I have found it to be an over all enjoyable experience. I have felt the spirit of the lord on my shoulders as I have persevered through my trials and struggles while studying. I am grateful to have had that experience. I am looking forward to the next few years of this. Education was always a bit of a challenge for me. But as I seek to take the advice of the savior to not walk faster than I can run, I am feeling more confident about being able to achieve my goal.
